We passed our last inspection yesterday and opened our doors at 310 E. Pike Street today at 630am! We are considering this a very soft opening. We have lots to do still including moving the roaster over and getting our beer and wine in the house but we are very, very happy to at least be open for business! Please stop by and see us..get an individual press of our awesome Lake Tawar Sumatra or have a delicious espresso drink and a pastry. This was my breakfast at V2 this morning:

Chris had a chance to hang out with our very first customer (who happens to be one of our very first customers up on 15th (thanks max!!).

We will have limited hours, 630am-3pm, today and tomorrow but we should be in full swing, 530am-11pm, as of Saturday.
Cheers!

January 16, 2007Victrola Coffee Masters
January 15, 2007Sometimes people get our name wrong. Victroria Coffee, Victorla Coffee but “Victrola Coffee Masters” is my favorite. Anyway…we were featured on the premier of a new Food Network Program this weekend called “Giada’s Weekend Getaways”! You get to spend a weekend with Giada and her perma-grin in various cities. Her Seattle visit took her to Cascadia for mini-burgers and alpine martnins, the EMP where she rocks out on the drums, the Pike Place Market for breakfast at Lowells and the fish throwing stand, dinner at the Dahlia, more breakfast at Cafe Nola on bainbrigde and, most importantly, a stop at a “classic” Seattle coffeehouse…Victrola! I almost fell out of my seat when I saw her put 4 packs of sugar in her delicious americano but hey..the lady apparently likes her sugar. Anyway, you can visit the Food Network Site to check out more details.
There is a beautiful shot of Victrola latte art being poured by our very own Hardison. If you don’t normally come in when he is working, here are some pics to entice you to seek him out! He will be moving down to our Pike Street location, by the way, holding down the afternoon shifts…

Victrola Customer on a Swimming Streak
January 12, 2007
Michael Sullivan has been a Victrola regular forever! Our days wouldn’t be the same without seeing him at least once during the day. He made the front page of the Seattle PI online today for his swimming streak…203 days straight..in Lake Washington. Now, I want to remind people that we are having a cold snap here and just had a few inches of snow that are actually still on the ground becuase it is so cold! We have also had the worst windstorm on record as well as record rains…and it hasn’t deterred him. What is his secret? Determination, focus and Victrola Coffee of course! (right Michael??) You can check out his site documenting his swims in the lake at www.swimstreak.comYou are awesome Michael!!!
Brazil Cup of Excellence (and a bit about v2)
January 8, 2007
Before I talk about the coffee, can we just admire the gorgeous cupping table built by Chris and Jay? It now lives in the v2 cupping room where we will be doing all our trainings and cuppings.
We held our first cupping in the new v2 cupping room yesterday. What better way to christen a cupping table then to lay on 29 award winning coffees! Well, we didn’t go through all 29 yesterday. The cupping continues today. These Brazilian coffees were wonderful. Many tasted very much un-like typical Brazils with interesting acidity and fruit in the cup. The auction takes place next week. We are not sure yet if we will be participating in this one but we will certainly keep ya’ll posted.

We will be having all of our final inspections this week at the new roastery and expect to be open by Friday (we are keeping our fingers crossed). Our first week will be limited hours so we can make sure we get all the kinks ironed out! Thanks to all who have been stopping by and showing their excitement about having us in the neighborhood down there!
